The following are upcoming events organized by our partner and affiliate organizations. Visit this webpage frequently as updates will be regularly posted.
Date: 23 and 24 October 2009, Saturday and Sunday
Location: Mt Kinabalu, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia
This event has made its reputation as “The World’s Toughest Mountain Race”. A true challenge to the spirit of human endurance. The race involves running up and down Mt Kinabalu (4095 meters) where the total distance is 21 km for all Men, Women and Men Veteran categories. The average climber takes 2 days to climb this mountain but participants of the race can make it in less than 3 hours. This Climbathon is part of the Buff® Sky Runners® World Series circuit.
In 2007, 10 Filipinos joined this race. In 2008, alomost 40 runners competed. We are targeting to bring an even larger contingent in 2009. Contact us to join the Philippine Contingent and be part of the email loop, get training tips, apparel tips, travel tips, cost-saving tips, detailed budget and also be included in group trainings.
We also plan to bring along 3 to 6 of our top runners, to help gather medals and honor for the Philippines. These will be sponsored athletes and their number will depend on the sponsorships we will secure. The rest of us will be paying our own way into this exciting international event.
If you decide, book and register early, you can make a lot of savings. A typical budget is less than P15,000 for this 8-day trip.
Non-runners (aka trekking tourists) are also welcome to join. The more, the manyer.
